Alnylam: Gianluca Parziale joins as legal director for Italy and Benelux

Gianluca Parziale (pictured) has been appointed Associate Legal Director Italy and Benelux at biotech company Alnylam Pharmaceuticals.

Parziale brings a high-calibre legal profile built within large international groups, with deep expertise in the regulatory, compliance, and governance dynamics of the life sciences sector.

With over ten years of experience at Chiesi Group, Parziale held positions of increasing responsibility, rising to the role of Lead Legal Counsel, where he became a key reference point for strategic functions including R&D, Clinical Operations, Procurement, IT, HR, and Shared Value. Throughout this tenure, he led complex corporate and group-level compliance programmes, covering areas such as antitrust, anti-bribery, whistleblowing, the Italian Legislative Decree 231/2001 framework, the Code of Ethics, and the Sustainability Code. He also managed post-acquisition integration processes directly.

Particularly noteworthy is his experience in group insurance governance, overseeing multi-policy portfolios and sizeable budgets, as well as his contribution to the adoption of digital contract management tools and the centralisation of legal activities in the R&D space.

Prior to Chiesi, Parziale laid the foundations of his legal career at Merck Sharp & Dohme, ALD Automotive, and British American Tobacco, where he handled compliance, contract law, and intellectual property protection.
