ITA Airways heads toward legal restructuring: D’Atri to lead the team
Ranieri D’Atri (pictured) is set to become the new Chief Legal & Compliance Officer of ITA Airways, succeeding Paolo Quaini. The appointment marks a further reshuffle at the top of the airline’s management.
D’Atri has served as Chief Corporate Affairs & Governance Officer and Board Secretary at the company since October 2021 – practically from the inception of the newly established carrier that inherited Alitalia’s operations. His areas of expertise span corporate law, corporate governance, the management of board committees, M&A transactions, financial operations, and contract law.
Prior to joining ITA Airways, D’Atri served as Global Head of Corporate Affairs at Hitachi Rail STS, where he handled governance, Consob regulatory matters, and extraordinary transactions.
Before that, he gained extensive experience at Covivio (formerly Foncière des Régions), working on financial and corporate transactions as well as regulatory compliance vis-à-vis Consob, Borsa Italiana, and the Bank of Italy.
His career also includes a stint in the legal department of Nissan Motor Corporation and a role at ERG, with a focus on contract law and pre-litigation activities.
The transition from Paolo Quaini comes at a strategically significant moment for ITA Airways, amid ongoing industrial consolidation and governance developments with Lufthansa, and the strengthening of internal controls.
The choice of an internal candidate – one who has been closely involved in governance matters, board proceedings, and major corporate transactions in recent years, including the entry of Lufthansa as a shareholder – may be read as a signal of continuity.
