Microsoft brings legal AI tools into Word and Copilot
Microsoft has introduced more than 20 legal AI capabilities for Copilot, helping lawyers draft and review contracts within Microsoft 365.
The tools can suggest amendments directly in Word using tracked changes. Through Copilot Cowork, users can also work across documents, emails and meetings to monitor contractual obligations and compare agreement terms.
Microsoft is also working with legal technology providers including Harvey, Legora and DeepJudge on plugins that connect their specialist tools to Copilot. Other partners include iManage, NetDocuments, Everlaw and Relativity.
For law firms and in-house teams, the launch could make legal AI easier to access within software they already use. It also increases pressure on specialist providers to demonstrate the additional value of their platforms, from proprietary legal content to more advanced capabilities.
