Microsoft, Andrea Simándi appointed head of legal Europe North and the Netherlands

Andrea Simándi (pictured) has been appointed Head of Legal for Europe North and the Netherlands at Microsoft, where she will lead the company’s legal strategy across the region while continuing to support customers on regulatory compliance, cloud adoption, AI deployment, and digital sovereignty.

Announcing the appointment on LinkedIn, Simándi said she is “excited” to take on the new role, highlighting her commitment to advancing conversations around regulation, cloud technologies, artificial intelligence, and sovereignty with Microsoft’s customers.

A long-standing Microsoft executive, Simándi has spent more than 14 years with the company, holding a series of senior legal leadership positions. Most recently, she served as Regulatory Lead in the EMEA Legal Affairs team, following five years as Regional Legal Lead for SME and Readiness in EMEA, where she led a team of legal experts supporting enterprise customers on privacy, AI governance, and compliance with key European regulations, including the GDPR and the EU AI Act.

Before joining Microsoft, Simándi established and led the Hungarian office of Bird & Bird, overseeing the firm’s Technology, Intellectual Property, and Employment Law practices. She also founded and managed her own boutique law firm specializing in IT, communications, e-commerce, and intellectual property law.
